“The most powerful and insightful narrative and poetic commentary about Hurricane Katrina ever written and performed.” – Audience member, a critic and reviewer for the local arts, at The Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May, NJ.
I wrote MUD IN YOUR EYE while the devastations of Hurricane Katrina, along with all political mud slinging and absolute incompetence from both sides of the aisle, were in full sway and stagger. I wrote it so that the world would never forget the heartlessness and willful neglect it revealed of a tragically inept political system in the land of the free. The Bush-Cheney incompetency proved particularly severe and injurious to all Americans in the eyes of world at large. I wrote and performed my narrative to honour our dead and our survivors and all we lost. Much still needs to be done Louisianna way for healing and mending and way too much will never be restored at all!
I wish to extend a special THANKS to my friend, the Historian and Author, R.T. Crowley with whom I collaborated on this project extensively. It is to his credit that these archival historical photographs were discovered in public domain and sequenced with my recorded performance and that of my extraordinary musical accompanist, Jim Beckwith.
